Faking 15 Hours Of Community Service
A writer over another writer not only do two writers, but added a gossip mill and highly valuable information. The same writer more than an illustrator, as the change of the factors in this case does not alter the product.
And what do you know a writer and / or illustrator of another writer and / or illustrator?
Here:
What publishers are publishing. Which publishers are easy
contact.
has signed many contracts on the other. What progress is paying
each publisher.
What percentage to charge each.
many books sold.
What are your contacts for odd jobs.
If you are going to schools to give talks.
If you charge by going to schools.
If you collect per diem.
If you travel inland. Who
control inside.
What is writing now.
you know about other writers.
If you have been invited to meetings / conferences.
How to organize your working time.
If you have interviewed.
If you have reviewed or criticized his books.
many hours a day writing.
If you live in the literature or have other work to eat.
This, which at first seems an endless gossip, with some economic morbidity and even a hint of jealousy / envy, it's actually a lecture on "how to be a writer and make a living from literature." Something that is not taught in any school.
And I'm learning that I just thank my fellow writers and / or illustrators.
People who I am immensely grateful (for friendship and information.)
Here ...
In practical, economic, commercial, marketers, legal and contractual, I'm just terribly naive, but I can say without doubt that I am whole asshole.
not sold. I do not know for myself. I do not know to ask. It is not disputed. Not traded. I know nothing more than being at home and write.
why I signed the contract that the publisher put me forward. And I rarely charge forward. And I go where I call free. And to make me feel all a favor when they ask for something. And
. It does not work that way. It should not work that way.
Because when you have writer friends and / or illustrators much smarter than you learn that ...
the contract that it was impossible to negotiate because the editor said no and no, the other negotiated and gained better.
that this editorial did not pay advances, another paid.
editorial that tiny little underestimated new one is publishing beautiful books, selling very well and hopefully we publish.
that we went to the mound of furry that talk to who invited us, pay parking or taxi, we paid the coffee (and over was none!), And the next ... I paid all travel expenses!
that the schools can (and should) pass a budget for our visit, especially since many private schools are giving workshops throughout the morning (here I make a healthy distinction between private and municipal schools).
to go to schools, conferences or lectures, travel, show, give workshops, etc, etc, is part of our work, takes time and effort, sometimes preparation, and therefore should be valued.
And so much detail and things that I did not know.
For my part, I listen, learn, apprehend, mature. And when it comes to show how I changed and I appreciate ... I'm still a wanker! But at least, informed asshole.
way I am.
