hotels Catalonia and the Canary Islands are the most expensive in Spain

In both communities the average price exceeds 100 euros per night according to our study THPI (trivago Hotel Price Index) for the month of March. The analysis echoes the first of the major price difference between Autonomous Communities, which can exceed 30 euros on average.

The average price for hotels in the month of March in Catalonia and the Canary Islands is 105 euros and 106 euros, respectively, with the highest rates in the country along with those of Madrid (99 euros) and the Balearic Islands (91 euros). Nevertheless highlights the 16% drop in the prices of the latter community, since the year began with an average of 108 euros per night.




The cheapest areas are Asturias and Galicia, where to sleep costs on average 70 euros per night. The interior regions such as Castilla-Leon (72 euros), Aragon (73 euros) and La Rioja (75 euros), also far from the prices of other communities that receive more tourists. The Murcia region is also among the cheapest, costing a night of hotel 71 euros.


The Catalan capital is also the city with the highest prices in Spain
Barcelona with an average of 112 euros per night, Palma de Mallorca, which stands at 111 euros, are the most expensive cities, as it almost doubled the numbers of Murcia and Zaragoza, the cheapest destinations to 61 and 65 euros respectively.

Compared to last year, it is worth noting the sharp drop in prices in Cáceres, which have fallen by 19% to 73 euros per night. With regard to last month, there are significant price increases in Seville (17%), reaching 90 euros, and Valencia (16%), amounting to 104 euros on average.


European capitals recorded the highest increases compared to English destinations. In Rome, prices have increased 21% last month, reaching 125 euros per night. Regarding the last year, hotels in London have raised their prices by 24%, costing on average 172 euros a night stay.




Particularly striking is the increase of prices in Istanbul. The average price for hotels in the Turkish city registered an increase of 27% over February, already surpassing the barrier of 100 euros, in line with the national average (106 euros).
